This week The Scramble newsletter tackles ideas for healthy school lunches you can pack for your kids. While I often use regular plastic containers with lids and wash and reuse reclosable plastic bags and plasticware, when we need to use it, here are a couple of great products, suggested by Scramblers, that are specifically designed to help you pack a waste-free lunch for yourself or your children:

Thanks for visiting Mama Manifesto! I love the concept of your site and these tips and resources you are offering busy families! Just because we are all busy does not mean that we cannot feed our families well! Thanks so much for the inspiration.

Another good way to reduce waste is to stop buying disposable plastic bags, and start saving all of the disposable bags that bread, tortillas, and other goods come in. Reuse those bags for sandwiches, fruit, and other items for packed lunches.
I still use basic borosilicate (e.g. Pyrex) glass containers from the local Corningware store for my lunches, but they were just too heavy for my daughter to take to school now that I'm packing her lunch every day.
Since I not only wanted to keep waste to a minimum, I also wanted to avoid the potential health effects from plastic food containers, I love the lead-free, PBA-free, phthalate-free lunchbox kit at laptoplunches.com. It's proven to be very sturdy and was well worth the money.
My daughter loves the fun colors and has taken remarkably good care of her lunchbox (a rarity for her). And best of all she's getting nutritious, filling lunches almost every day.
